One of the best goalscorers to play for our football club, 147 goals in 360 games between 1985 & 1993

Scored his 1st Boro goal, home debut at the holgate end v Bradford City on the 19th October 1985 & his final Boro goal, holgate end v Man United on the 3rd October 1992

He scored our 1st FAC hat trick after liquidation & the 1st FAC hattrick since 1977 when scoring all 3 v Blackpool 15th November 1986 & at present our last FAC hat trick to date
When he scored his 1st division treble away to Coventry in October 1988 it was our 1st top flight away hat trick for 41 years, since Cecil McCormack scored 3 at Blackburn in November 1947

Bernie went on to score 6 hat tricks for the Boro & I was there at everyone of those 6

A truly remarkable bargain signing by the late, great Willie Maddren & one of the best signings our football club has ever done, registered No577
