51 years today, our dad took me & my younger brother to our 1st ever Boro away game

I started going to Boro games the previous season, late 1971, but 72-73 was to be my 1st full season

Excitingly we gulped our dinner down & jumped in to our dads blue morris oxford

On arriving at the ground & for whatever reason I dont know, our dad took us into the side paddock, instead of behind the goal with the Boro fans, who before KO jumped on to the pitch & ran into their kop.

Before kickoff a lady Preston fan gave me & our Kev a cup of coffee from her flask, we were 10 & 11, how nice of her

The game itself, Eric McMordie ran the show with Mr Middlesbrough, John Hickton, scoring the only goal of the game, a victory, what a start to my Boro away days

I've clocked up 82 grounds following the Boro, but that game always holds special memories

I was hoping to take my son to Preaton for his 1st Boro away game, that plan was dashed due to us been in South Wales for a father & son mini holiday & took in the Swansea v Boro game (2009) Boro winning 3-0, like his dad & uncle he started his away days with a win, his 2nd away game was Preston, with Stracham to become manager soon after our 2-2 draw

Always took photos of me & my young un outside of the turnstyles of away grounds we visited

Would love the match day ticket, been searching for years but no luck as yet
I have my 2nd away game ticket when we played at Sheff Weds two weeks after the Preston game

My Boro love is still as it was back then

Our Kev & dad will be up there talking over the game back then x
