Me & my younger brother went spud bashing a couple of weeks leading up to the Stoke game, which was played on this day the 6th November

There was a gang of blokes waiting to be picked up at daft o'clock outside the Roseberry pub whinney banks on a cold, wet miserable October, think we were the youngest there

A blue battered van pulls up & we all jump in the back off to some farmers field to suffer hours of graft

Our mam had packed a load of cheese sarnies & a flask of tea for me & our Kev

Still recall, sitting in some cold, damp caravan or whatever it was having a well earned break, I was 16 then & knackered, our Kev 15

Hours later we got dropped off at the Roseberry pub with a days wages, cold, miserable but rich, think it was £3 & a bag of potatoes for our mam
The following day me & our Kev went down to Wilson street, think it was & booked on Beggs buses for the Stoke game

The day arrived, excited going by the end we wished we hadnt gone spud bashing as Boro got thumped 3-1 with David Armstrong scoring our consolation goal

Looking back Im glad we did go spud bashing, a memory I think of fondly

RIP brother, x
