5th November 1991

Our iconic captain Tony 'Mogga' Mowbray played his final Boro league game away to Barnsley in a 2nd division bonfire night fixture

Mogga was handed his debut by Bobby Murdoch away to Newcastle on the 8th September 1982, registered No533, with orders to man mark Kevin Keegan, the game ended 1-1 with Paul Ward also making his debut that evening

Mogga scored his 1st goal the following season away to Carlisle in a 1-1 draw & a famous winning diving headed goal at home to Villa in the, 1st ever live televised 2nd division fixture, also, scoring Boro's 1st top flight goal since 1982 against Norwich City at Ayresome Park after leading the club through 2 divisions following liquidation in 86

Lennie was the manager who accepted a £1m bid from Celtic, IIRC, he scored on his debut v Rangers
Mogga later brought Celtic back to AP for a well deserved testimonial

A true Boro legend who apart from leading the Boro on to the pitch against Port Vale in 86 he led the team onto wembley stadium for our first ever visit to wembley
Tony went on to make 405 appearances, 5 as sub, scoring 28 goals & later became manager of the Boro
A great captain, one of our best, IMHO
