Malcolm Alison had to act fast & after exhausting other avenues was alerted to a future Boro legend & off to see his old pal Ron Atkinson & the possibility of loaning 21 years old Stephen Pears for a 6 game loan spell at the Boro from Man United

Stephen Pears was to become our 1st ever loanee when Boro played at home to Cardiff City & enjoyed a 2-0 win

Pearsy saved us time after time throughout the game with Dave Currie & Andy Crawford, his one & only Boro goal, out of 9 appearences, scoring the goals

Stephen Pears made 2 seperate 6 game loan appearences that season
