The law already states a maximum of four years for carrying a knife.

I think it's the CPS that don't enforce the maximum sentence.

Breaking:

A  man was stabbed in the back following an alleged street attack in Middlesbrough.

The incident, which took place on Cambridge Road in the Linthorpe area, saw a group of six males get involved in an altercation with a 20-year-old man. The victim suffered two stab wounds to his back and was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where he recieved treatment.

Cleveland Police has confirmed his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. A man, aged 28, has since been arrested in connection with the incident but has been bailed while enquiries continue
