Bernie Slaven scored his 1st top flight hat trick & the clubs 1st since 1947 when he netted a treble at Highfield road in an exciting 1st divison, now PL, clash

Bernies became the 44th different Boro HT goalscorer when he recorded his 4th & penultimate away HT, the clubs 29th away 122nd hat tricks in total, Mark Burke scored his 2nd Boro goal that day, his 1st away goal

Incidentally, james McCormack was the last player, before Bernie, to score a top flight away hat trick when he bagged a treble in our 7-1 win at Blackburn Rovers on the 29th November 1947
