Opening day of the season with a home game v Coventry City, with new recruit Jim Stewart in goal, a £110k signing from Kilmarnock

Jim was registered No519 when he became our 39 used GK

Boro took the lead through Billy Woof but Coventry hit back with 2 goals to take both points back to the midlands & for two seasons running winless on our opening fixture

Met Jim Stewart at formaer player reunions & came across as a nice bloke 7 at the time he was chuffed to be here but for me he should have earned his place to take the No1 jersey, not just walk straight in, Jim Platt had done no wrong
It took John Neal until March to realise he'd made a costly mistake & Jim Platt was brought back in to the team, fortunatly Jim had just turned down a loan to Cardiff that was to result in him signing permantely for the Welsh club, aftyer Jim Platt dislodged Stewart he only played a further 5 games & he was gone, he ended up playing atotal of 38 games for us over 2 seasons
