Boro flashback - August 4th 1984

2 days after beating Motherwell in the 1st of our 3 game mini tour of Scotland we travelled to Morton with confidence, never mind its only a friendlie as we stumbled to a defeat with  Morton beating the mighty Boro 2-1 with Dave Currie getting our consolation goal

As mentioned before the Motherwell game, this was the time, leading up to the clubs lowest ebb, Willie had scrounged 2 mini coaches for the Scottish tour, with Willie Maddren & David Mills driving the coaches, then to each game made the players get out when they got close to the ground & walk because he was embarrassed that we were travelling up in a mini bus & didn't want other teams thinking less of us

What a great man he was, always thinking of the Boro
