The mighty Boro travelled to Sincil bank to play Lincoln City in our 5th friendly of the summer, still unbeaten but to be fair, we'd played 2 non league teams, sorry 3, we played Celtic & then York City, leading up to this game as we prepared for life in the 1st ever season of the PL

Lincoln is one of the 82 grounds I've been to following the Boro & a result I've seen many times over the years at a few of those visiting grounds, we got thumped 5-1, which resulted in Lennie going out & buying Chris Morris & Derek Whyte with Andy Payton & £750 going to Celtic

Martin O'Neil former Newcastle player was on trial at the Boro & can count himself unlucky, he'd played at York too, with Boro getting such a thumping at Lincoln Lennie knew his priorities lied elsewhere regarding signing players & went out & splashed the money on Morris & Whyte
