When the best ever 2nd division champions gave Bill Gates a well deserved testimonial against the 1st division champions Leeds at Ayresome Park.

27/9/1961 - Bob Dennison gave Bill Gates, registered No422 his Boro debut away to Luton in a 3-2 defeat, he went on to make 328 appearances, scoring 12 goals, his last Boro goal was in front of the new manager to be Jack Charlton in a 3-0 home win over Sheff Weds on the final game of the 72-73 season

Named as our 1st FAC home sub when York City visited Ayresome Park for a 2nd round tie on the 7th January (Frank Spraggon holds the honour of been our 1st ever FAC sub when we played away to Chester in round one) he replaced ''give us a goaaaal, give us a goaaaal, John O'Rourrrke, John O'Rourrrke''
