When the students at the school asked me where I lived I used to tell them I was originally from South Bank and then we got posh and moved to Grangetown.

Their reaction was quality.

It certainly isn't the place I knocked about and grew up in.

Growing up in them areas you knew the names.

Now i read stuff and dont recognise many if any family names.

Growing up you the P family, the H family, the MacVs, my lot the Masseys etc but these were generations upon generations of the same families.

The amount of people i grew up with that have moved from these areas always astounds me.

The days of a scrap in the allyway between Church Lane and Tawney Rd, a proper punch up on the tip or even the Stap, Sweaty Metcalfes or Gillbrook meeting on the Rec at lunch time are literally a lifetime away.

I would hate to be of school age now.
Frightening times for young people all over.

Hey but at least RR dont run ads for knives.....😏

Francks left peg

Full of absolutely splendid people with good morals and good spirits is grangetown...sadly the morons have taken over, along with the drugs. The boysey is doing well in terms of the local football team with huge crowds for the league they are in. Really community minded people.

Let's not get down on the lads and lasses of gtown. Majority of em are class people.
