This day 1960 we played our 1st ever football league cup match.

Cardiff City were our first ever league cup visitors to Ayresome Park in a historic 1st round tie
Unfortunately, typical Boro turned up with an attendance of 15,695 watched as the mighty Boro slumped to a 4-3 defeat
