Boro 2 Bristol City 0

Standing in the boysend with our Kev, star struck waiting for our latest signing, ex Celtic & former European cup winning legend, Bobby Murdoch, to run out of the tunnel to make his Boro home debut, an excited crowd of 17,069, our biggest crowd of the season so far at Ayresome Park, waited

Bristol City came to Teesside top of the second division, unbeaten & two points better off than the Boro

Big Jacks team put an end to that run as they blew them away with a 2-0 win, with man of the moment debut boy Bobby Murdoch putting us one nil up, David Armstrong, scoring his 2nd Boro 1st team carear goal, 1st goal of the season & 1st at Ayresome Park

Victory seen us draw level with City at the top of the table, a position we occupied for the duration of that fantastic, unbelievable, so glad I was old enough, probably never be repeated again, season

After 3 consecutive goalless draws, Villa, Orient & Blackpool, it was a great win at the right time, against a team who had come to Ayresome Park full of confidence, avoid defeat & remain as leaders of the table

The manner of our 2-0 meant we had gone 5 consecutive games without conceding a goal, a feat we were to master that season at home
