South Shields 0 Boro 1

After 22 seasons in the top flight we were back in the second division following our first ever relegation the previous season (1923/24) we had started out life in the second division ok with Herbert Bamlett's team losing only one of our opening 5 games, winning all 3 home games, losing & drawing our two away games

William Hicks, who went on to score 7 goals in 17 games, scored the only goal of the game on his Boro debut, in the first ever league fixture between both clubs recording 4 home wins on the bounce

Boro went on to finish a disappointing 13th in  the league

Owen Williams was our top goalscorer on 7 goals in 30 games, with George Elliott behind him on 5 in 17 games

Knocked out of the FAC in the first round away to Bradford, who we done the league double over that season
