Preferred this to Dave Bowies version

Blott

The year I turned down an ICI apprenticeship, my old fella looked at me and shook his head.

Football wise was that Big Jacks first year?

Music wise Sweet, Slade? ELO

My ambition was to always get into ICI, not clever enough when I left school in 1977 but tried, tried & tried again & got in thete in 1986

Sweet & Slade for me too, ELO also but the first two were my groups when I started liking music

Why did you turn down ICI Blott?

1974 my favourite year, great memories & the Boro were superb

Bud Wiser

After 1970, 1974 has to be the worst year for music from the decade. So its easier to put up some duffers.

Enjoy....

it just wasn't for me. I saw the stacks and the towers and thought; nah.

What was funny after I turned down the apprenticeship they offered me a bobbin boy job on more money. I think they offered £25 a week. I took a job in an accountants for £10 a week.

Why did you turn down ICI Blott?
Both great bands. Sweet were a very underrated band and a lot better than the early bubblegum pop that they were reluctantly pushed into. If you get chance get a listen to their album Sweet Fanny Adams. it is really good.

I turned down an apprenticeship there
in 1974 also. We could have been taking the entrance tests at the same time. I ended up with an apprenticeship at RDL.

was it a maths test of easy questions but 100s of them. It was in a one level 1940/50s building.

Think it was yeah. I just remember after leaving school and taking loads of these tests at all the big companies.

Loved Lulu. My dad was invited to Club Fiesta on a works do. Lulu was on. It's fair to say he didn't like pop music and hated the whole evening!

I would have swapped with him any day of the week to see her!
