What a player he was for us

Bobby Murdoch brought him to the mighty Boro, from FC Twente, one shining light in a dismal period

Registered No535 when he made his debut 4 days after signing for the Boro at home to Spurs 29th August 1981 scoring the first goal of the game, sadly in a 3-1 defeat

He only missed 2 games (1st season at the club) in his 4 years at the Boro, wore shirts he wore, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 12
Between 1981 to 1984 he went on to make 187 appearance, scoring 28 goals

Just a season or so longer, he would have seen the Boro & fans in a different light & would have loved it

Absolute top class, skillful player & TBH, he could have played for a number of top tier teams when w were relegated. Chelsea looked at him after his 2nd season but big Mal convinced him to stay at the Boro
Thankfully he did for another two seasons & only for the too tempting offer of going back to Holland to sign for FC Den Haag in the summer of 1985 did he eventually leave our football club, loved his time here

Great player.

Him, Bosco and David Mills were my first set of favourite Boro players

Clem Fandango

I always thought his name was spelled Heine but...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heini_Otto

Bit strange - pretty much every newspaper article etc used Heine.

anyway Happy Birthday Heine.. erm.. Heini.
