a lad was taking the p out of me over it. The thing is that he has a point. I can be in a conversation, then someone asks me a question, and I forget where I was in the conversation. I bluff.

My future daughter in law has a PhD in something to do with the brain. She tested me out, I came out in the top 2pc of cognitive memory.

Saw a few on the river tees near Yarm on Sunday. Loads doing it on ullswater when I was there a few weeks ago.

Also do a lot of hiking and once or twice a year take on a long distance trail and camp it.

Ellerton, near Richmond mostly, water is crystal clear. Bolam lake near Morpeth is decent. Been to Bishopton but they dye the water to stop algae which makes it look black. Few places at Barnard Castle and at Darlo on the rivers are good if rivers not too full (water, not people)

Prefer rivers and lakes to the sea, but Cullercoats and Tynemouth are ok
