What a great piece, Erimus. This guy, one of the very best to be seen in a Boro shirt, has more love for the club and fans than far lesser lights.

A privilege and honour to see The Little Fella play with so much pride. Humbling - very humbling

Unbelievable time to be a Boro fan UTB 👍

He's the best player I've seen in a Boro shirt. He genuinely was a world class player when he joined us, and put Boro on the world map when he signed.

Souness for me, but I wouldn't disagree with anyone who thought Juninho first, he was special & still is

For 6 weeks I though Emerson was the best player in the world, that soon went belly up

Souness was before my time Erimus, and you're not the only one to rate him as the best in a Boro shirt. The little fella has some competition around that time also, Viduka, Boksic, Mendy, Ripley, Pallister, Zieger just to name a few.

Pretty much spot on with that comment, Erimus. Yet still when you read 'best ever Boro 11' threads/messages, it staggers me how many include his name. Staggering?

Emerson was amazing, he had it all.

If only he realised that....

Fucking immense.. to me he was like Zidane.. but stronger., and he seemed to dance as he played.. he had a bit of that Ronaldinho vibe to him.. day know just like he was playing against kids without a care in the world!

I remember him going for a 50/50 against Roy Keane and they both just popped the ball! Never say that before or since! lol

I can see why he would be up there with the best midfielders to have played for Boro.

It would be a strange old planet if everyone agreed with each other, especially when it comes to footballers. In Emerson's case, like Erimus74, I thought we had a world beater on our hands - that was until the first leaves of autumn started to fall. From then on in all I saw was a disinterested player bounding around the pitch contributing very little. Give me a Craig Johnston any day.

Each to their own.

I certainly wasn't aware of that. One thing I was aware of was serious allegations regarding his OFF-field activities, which, if correct - and I have no reason to doubt them considering I was told by a serving police officer at the time - would most certainly affect any players performances!

Craig Johnston all day for me too, he worked his socks to get to the very top of his game, fought against everything & everyone who told him he wasn't good enough, proved them all wrong & went onto play for the biggest club in the country & to win the biggest trophies in football
