Quote from: Billybalfour1 on July 14, 2024, 07:02:32 PMThe tidal River, the sand colour, the seafood... reminds me of st valery sur somme?

I'm south of Bordeaux. We spent the afternoon at that restaurant waiting for my boat engine to be serviced.
Lovely.
Do you live there?  I try get over France as often as possible. If things work out in next 4-5 years we going to do long term lease and I'll work remotely. Saves buying.

I wish I did live over here but Brexit and the 90 day rule put that dream to bed.

We have a touring caravan that we leave here in storage and come out here for 8 weeks over the summer. We've also rented cottages for the odd Christmas.

The caravan is serviced and taken to the site for us and placed on our pitch. It saves towing it from home to south of Bordeaux.
My mother in law had a static caravan on a river bank on a site in Port Grimaud.  Lovely spot.  She gave it up just before Brexit when her husband got too old to handle it.

Accessible by Bordeaux or toulouse Airports in a fashion. Maybe just a pipe dream to own, as would never get the use to justify, hence why we thought of 2 or 3 month leases once a year and try different regions. Plus my company might agree to that, so I can keep on working and do it while younger. Not sure I'll have the beans at retirement age. Plus seen a few peg it recently before retirement so I'm gonna try do some stuff while young enough

This is one you have to picture. 😜

During Covid, I went to speak to an estate agent about an house in a village near Mont-de-Marsan and both the estate agent (who happened to be Spanish) and I had to wear face masks.

So, in this office is an English guy wearing a face mask trying to talk French to a Spanish guy who is also trying to speak French and wearing a face mask. 😳

They have trouble understanding my north east accent as it is. Needless to say, the transaction didn't go far. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thats a shame, took the kids there & it was a great mini holiday
I got goosebumps when I seen the castle for the first time

Magic times back then, shame life goes to fast, but lovely memories of the holiday

After thunderstorms last night, the weather in Landes is awful today and due to it being Sunday, everywhere is closed and not a great deal to do to escape the rain or winds.

We are both sitting around the caravan reading or playing on the internet.

The forecast is much better for next week.

Glorious weather in Teesside yesterday, showers last night,
Warm again today, would still rather be sat on a campsite in France in the rain though, did a tour through France and Italy last year, going to go round France next year for a few weeks.
