Just ask the Toby that pays 20 bar a pop for em
Why must I feel like that . . . Why must I chase the 🐈

Francks left peg

Know they're quite common over here, but it's rare to see one especially slithering across a path in the middle of the day.

Not rare unfortunately - I've seen about a dozen plus gopher snakes etc in that area.  They like to lie in the sun.

I nearly didn't see it - it was bright sunlight and it was just lying still at the edge of a shadow.  I stamped my feet a bit and got it moving and it went back into the bushes.

This is what we approached on the path - hard to see in the sunlight and going in and out of shade.  We got to where the break in the shadow is on the path just before seeing it (ie about a yard short - oof).

Did yer shovel it?

Got bitten by a Cottonmouth years ago, luckily it bit into my steel top cap and the other boot made it go away.

Even Steve Irwin wouldn't touch cotton mouths when he did a show in Louisiana and the crazy fooker would stick his hand in holes in Australia. 😲

. Ooof.  That sounds like a near miss.   :mick:

I just jumped about a bit and threw some stones at it and it turned around and thankfully it went back into the bushes instead of coming at me.  Luckily it wasn't a big one. :rudi:
