Jockey on the flat has passed away 2 weeks after a fall on the flat in Australia.

23 years old. A young lad on his way to the top (rode over 100 winners in the UK) even a jockey for Godolphin.

Sad news.
RIP.

It's a hard game being a jockey, when it goes wrong it goes very wrong

Just been on the news about Graham Lee, still in hospital after a fall 6 months ago, paralysed from the neck down. As New Division said "when it goes wrong it goes very wrong".

I watched a documentary/update thing recently about Jack Berry House and Graham Lee (from IB i believe?) and was actually shocked with Grahams injuries. Graham switched from a top jumps jock to the flat to extend his career and it was an accident on the flat that caused his life changing injuries.

I was very friendly with a former top flat jockey (now a trainer) and his "regime" would kill a normal geezer. The effort to make a low weight was like watching someone torture themselves. Its no wonder quite a few use sniff until they are caught. Alcohol was a big issue in the late 90's but then they started randomly breathalysing jockeys.
