"Sorry to hear of your loss, it's an awful experience to go through, strips you of any sense of control over your reality, just sitting there listening to those words, then watching some one you love deal with what's happening to them physically and emotionally and no ability to take control and change it for the better. I wish no one had to go through cancer and bereavement from cancer. As a widower it can make you a stronger person in some ways, but it steals a bit of your soul too. Everything that you've said resounds with me. I've never been bitter about it, but you are right, stealing a bit of your soul is a very good way to put it. The pain is unimaginable until it happens to someone that you love, I'd have done anything to stop the pain that she went through, but I couldn't and I felt like an absolute failure.

Covid really didn't help...imagine lying in a hospital bed aware that you are probably going to die and not being able to see friends or family...that was the reality for Sue. They used to sneak me in on a Sunday afternoon when fewer people were working, it still feels incredibly surreal. I'm a republican but I hope that Kate and William don't have to go through what we have both been through.
