Heard many a good thing about Blackwells. Unfortunately, the pie I was saving for dinner has already gone! Can't beat a freshly baked pie from the butchers.

Not quite Boro, but I remember kitsons in Stockton being decent when I lived up that way.

There used to be two in Hutton Rudby; Kitsons and "Banty" Greersons back in the 70's but we always got our pies from The Pork Shop in Stokesley.

Now we get them from Mountfields in Bubwith (15 mile south of York so no good if you're in Teesside. Good pies though.


*Edit*  I think the one that was Kitsons in Hutton was Honeymans before that.

On the subject of pies Five houses in crathorne are outstanding every time I have a car to collect near there I have to put an order in early to make sure I get them they are owned by Kitsons in Stockton which is no longer there

Ah yes it was in the castle gate. Assumed they would have moved it somewhere else.

I remember years ago, going to Catterick market and buying loads of meat from an auction butcher type of thing from a van. Got a load of meat, decent quality for next to nothing. Wonder if it's still going.
