Hoping the omens are better than when we played Man City in the League Cup semi

Back in the 70's, we took a 1-0 lead to Maine Road in the semi of the League Cup. Size of Boro following was estimated at 12000. Legend has it Jack was in a pub in Great Ayton on the night before the game and, allegedly told all who would listen we had no chance of getting through.

How right he was! We got hammered 4-0! I missed their first goal, the traffic was horrendous. Not our greatest night in what was a golden period for us and a massive disappointment as the Boro hordes travelled with more than a degree of optimism.

One of the worst nights in our history as once more it was so close yet so far...............

Well not trying to be negative but you mention the 70's above, I think you have to go all the way back to early 80's to find a team not in the top division who went on to win the League cup .

Odds tonight you can get a whopping 12/1 at some bookies just for a Boro win

Chelsea in some bookies are 1/5  :rav:

Love to see the miracle happen and the win but I'd say tonight's the end of the road  :unbelievable:

The one consolation is they went on to hump the Geordies in the final.
