Gary Hamilton, registered No553 when Malcolm Allison handed Gary the No12 shirt away to Bolton, making his debut on the 27th February 1983 when he replaced Joe Bolton in the 2nd half in a 3-1 defeat

16/4/1983 he scored his 1st Boro goal in a 3-0 win away at Grimsby                                                                                                                                              10/5/1983 scored his 1st home goal in a 2-0 win over Palace that secured our 2nd division survival

Between 1983/89 he went on to make 260 appearances, scoring 27 goals, some cracking goals, Bardford City playoffs, the Notts County FAC winning goal, the cracker v Fulham, Plymouth etc, but my favourite will always be, when, on the 6th September 1983, as a 17 year old, coming on as a sub replacing our talisman Heine Otto he scored the winner v Newcastle United at the holgate end, in a 3-2 win

Loved his no nonsense style, remember his battles with Bradfords Stuart McCall in the playoff second leg & Millwalls Terry Hurlock

He wore shirt No's 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 14

Up there as one of my favourite players in my 50 plus years supporting the mighty Boro
