Mark Proctors makes his Boro debut wearing the No7 shirt, with Tony McAndrew dropping to the subs bench as Boro manager John Neal watched his team win 3-1 away win at Birmingham City with David Armstrong, Billy Ashcroft & David Mills scoring the goals

After a disapointing start of the new season with a home defeat the saturday previous, the mighty Boro bounced back in style comfortably winning at one of our bogey grounds

MP went on to score 9 goals in his debut season, with his 1st goal on the 16th december 1978 coming in a 7-2 thrashing of Chelsea, with his final Boro goal away to Tranmere on the 10th April 1992

John Neals team

Jim Stewart - 2nd game after his £110k signing from Kilmarnock
John Craggs - One of the best (if not the best) ful back not to have played for England
Ian Bailey
John Mahoney - One time Boro record signing
Stuey Boam - IMHO, our best ever Boro captain
Alan Ramage
Mark Proctor
David Mills - Final season at the Boro (before his record transfer sale late November) later to return for a second spell
Billy Ashcroft - Boro's record signing
Billy Woof
David Armstrong - RIP 😔

MP went on to play a total of 265 games in over two seperate periods, scoring 20 goals

IMHO, a very good pro & player for us in his 2 seperate spells at the Boro

Registered No521 - 1st spell between 1978 - 1981 Playing 127 games, scoring 14 goals
Registered No594 - 2nd spel between 1988 - 1993 Playing 138 games, scoring 6 goals

Johnny Thunder

I remember that being a really strange season. A team capable of beating anyone but blowing really hot and cold. I certainly remember the Chelsea game. First time I ever shinned the wall into the seats behind the goal.
