I can remember the Holgate. A few lads had been warned about The Eston : Stockton chants getting out of order.

A few minutes later a fight started. The same copper came down down, smacked this lad properly, the rest scattered. No complaints from anyone.

Over 40 years ago my brother caught 2 lads breaking into next door the week after he had been broken into. He gave one a f ING good hiding, the other ran off. He made them tell him their address. The following day they brought his stuff back.


I tell this because the local beat Bobby in North Ormesby recognised the lad getting a good hiding and laughed.
