Boro faced Hull City in the qualifying round of the Anglo Scottish Cup, the trophy we won the previous season

We got off to a perfect start in the competition with a comfortable 2-0 win with goals from Graeme Souness & Phil Boersma starting our defence of the trophy in the best possible way
