I know we went on to sign Ugo, Southgate & Merson, earlier Barmby, who was an up & coming England international, not forgetting TLF, who was the Brazilian foitballer of the year, those two still had to prove themselves IMHO, but this signing was top, top drawer

A msssive name, for one of the biggest, most successful clubs in the world, scorer of the current europan cup holders (champions league winners) & an iconic Italian superstar

What a signing, an unbelievable purchase, which, the world sat up & said, wow, how did the Boro pull that one off, jealousy in a lot of areas too

I said at the time of his signing, if we fail to do anything its not down to lack of ambition

Signings that at time as a Boro fan & what followed, just seemed to be the norm after the white feather

I sometimes think we never pushed on after making the Euro final. Even though we lost it should have been a catalyst to build and push on.

Yes it was probably down to funds but i have always thought we went a bit negative after the final.

But i do agree with the signing of Rav as a "blockbuster" for the Boro.

Then was the halcyon days of being a Boro fan.

For me, he was the last proper goal scorer to pull on a Boro shirt

Some of our play between him and the Brazilian's was unstoppable

Shame our defence was utter dog shit

Mike Peeler

Unbelievable spine-tingling signing when it happened, he turned out to be a bit of twat in the end but still oozed quality and, had that proper Italian look feel about him.

Fast forward to today or the last 10 years and it would be like bringing Messi or Ronaldo to the club in their prime. It was that Stella a signing back then

Johnny Thunder

I remember a couple of other headlines too.

'Riverside Dogs' and 'Ravasoir Dogs'.

Do you have either of them Erimus?

It was a mad time that. Could score for fun but the defence was shocking.
In saying that, we should have beat Leicester at Wembley.
That was all down to Robbo's naivety or stubbornness.
Our fuckin ribbons were on the cup.

For me, our best ever keeper 👍

And a Boro legend

Blott

Where I worked me and the CEO were massive Boro fans. He would call me no more than 3 times a year always a problem.

My phone goes asking me to go his office, I thought here we go what now.

He had Rav on his computer, we both could not believe it.
