Remember when it first opened?

Buses from almost every boozer on Teesside used to drop you off on a muddy bit of ground resembling the Somme

There were no bridges and the access roads hadn't been built

The infrastructure promised to Steve Gibson never really materialised, but what's there now is still 100 times better than what was there at the start....

Remember the boat? Anyone else used to go on for a pre-match pint and titties?

Some of the bewers were a bit rough like...

Used to go on a minibus from the Coulby Farm. Also remember the strippers on the Tuxedo it used to be packed.

Went on the boat a few times with my dad 👍

I think the surrounding area of the Riverside sums up the small time thinking of both club and council. Great opportunity to support the club and town by offering a better infrastructure- transport, amenities, general tidy up on approaches to the ground etc. The lasting impression for visitors does little to dispel the reputation of Boro being a doss hole.

It could be so different- if there was a real Will and some investment

Don't blame the club for the lack of development around the ground, that was down to the council,

£1 a pint and a £1 for the strippers. The beer was half decent too.

Yes where's this ski slope they promised us

We've bought loads of nice skiwear from Cleveland mountain sports, we look dead smart we've been waiting for ages to try it out down there.

We should've just saved our money and blew it all in the mega casino that's getting built there instead.

Don't even get us started on the yacht we've bought for the marina either!

It was a non-starter that and someone in planning and projects and possible build has made a tidy sum out of the tax-payer. The same with the recent dropping of some enquire aimed at the last mayor, about 24k spunked up in legal costs, and then the whole carry-on gets dropped. Once the is a change in power/thinking. The same lot will get put through the rinser in a similar fashion and that's why nothing gets done in Boro, Each side too busy fighting and throwing legal shit at each other to get anything noteworthy off the ground.

Johnny Thunder

That 24k was just a very expensive final nail in the coffin.
It was never about dragging them through the courts.

Mike Peeler

I like to keep my eyes and ears open when it comes to local and national goings on when it comes to politics, not in a  fanatical way but every time I read the local paper the is an objection to this or we need a enquire on this. Its in the legal process the amount of money spent on enquires must be huge. Red or Blue I don't any of them have decision-making or leadership skills in local politics, the same could be said nationally

It's the only 'game' that spends all day slagging each other off. The rest of industry goes to work to help improve the way of life whilst in some or many cases also making money for the employer at the same time

Remember the titties on the tuxedo. Was a Persian bird stripping on there, small thing with that long dark hair, and what a figure she had. When she came on the circle formed was like you seen when a fight broke out at school  :rudi:
