Our first win as a league club on this day

Alexander 'Sandy' Robertson, registered Boro player No46, scored the final Boro hat trick at Linthorpe road before the club moved to Ayresome Park some 18 months later

This was the 4th hat trick scored at our Linthorpe road ground, with Alex scoring 2 of them

On this day we beat Chesterfield 7-1 in a 2nd division clash, our 4th joint highest number of goals scored in one game since joining the football league, the previous highest being a 9-2 win over Gainsbororugh (Mar 1900-01) 8-1 over Burton Swift (Nov 1899-1900) & 8-0 over Willington in the FAC 2nd round qualifier (Nov 1900-01)

Alex Robertson never played at Ayresome Park, he played the following season at the Boro our final season at Linthorpe road ground, 1902-03 & left in 1903 to join Man United

Alex's goals were his 1st goals of the season, other goals came from Joe Cassidy (the 1st goalscorer at AP) scoring his 15th & final goal of the season, William Wardrope with his 6th of the campaign & Robert Watson, becoming the last Boro player to score on his debut at Linthorpe road

1901/02 we finished 2nd, four points behind champions West Brom, the only team to win at Linthorpe road that season - Our first promotion, top goalscorers & the least conceded
