We have the most expensive energy in the world due to our government stated aim of "you'll own nothing and you'll be happy".

Bring it back into public ownership. A number of those countries have cheaper bills because it's under public ownership. Thatcher privatised everything and we're still getting screwed for it today. Sold all our energy and infrastructure for the financial gain of her mates. It's not rocket science

That graph is not accurate.  The rates across the US vary wildly but the average, even in 2023, was not that low.  Where I live the cost per MWH is currently around $390 (and there are much higher rates for higher usage).

Graphs are never to be trusted. Just nonsense mostly

Those prices are for industrial users, not domestic. But we really do shaft industry with the Carbon Price Floor, insane network levies and various other bollocks. Then we wonder why factories piss off to South east Asia.

Aaah ok - business use rates are a lot lower but at a quick glance still no where near as low as the graph suggests.  My guess is someone has been a bit selective to make the UK look particularly bad.  Not saying the UK isn't relatively high though.

I only comment because I am fucking sick of PG&E's monopoly in NorCal. My monthly gas/electric bill averages around $500.  It fucking sucks.
