 These stores/shops need proper security now to apprehend these scrotes and to protect staff. There are enough door staff around now as night clubs, etc, are diminishing.
Need to be hiring these guys like Baddad and Finny to keep us all safe.
 Joking aside, it's happening because any security measures will harm big profits.

Always been bad, mind. Worst part-time job I ever had was behind an offy/newsagent counter. Grief every day, spat at by skanky women for about two fifty an hour - just fucking grim. Lasted about a fortnight until my mate got me in at the highfield which felt like the height of luxury at the time - couldn't believe my luck, lol.

The coppers never turned up for shoplifters and tbh we never rang them.

4 times they did turn up but about how i had dealt with " parents".

See? Like my conviction these things have gone on for years and nobody really gives a fuck. But if a well known chain or a famous face gets a knock every fucker jumps on the bandwaggon and cant shout loud enough.

This is the exact same shit that has caused the deal spiral of city centers over here.  In California shoplifting under $950 by individuals is viewed as a misdemeanor now and not a felony.  This means the police rarely do anything and the leftie DAs will not prosecute anyway.  Stores were already on their knees with online retail - this is killing once superb city centers like SF.  Add in drugs, homelessness and mugging some parts are pretty much no-go now.  It boils my piss.
