The mighty Boro claim our 1st back to back wins since the 1st two games of the season

The previous week we won at Woolwich Arsenal 3-0 after losing two on the bounce, we followed that win over Arsenal with a 2-1 home win over Barnsley on this day 1901, a team we have now faced at home 3 times since joining the football league in 1899 & winning all 3, today been the 1st time they've scored on Teesside

John Bearley scored a brace, the 3rd time he's recorded a double in a game that season, taking his seasons tally to 7

Attendance at Linthorpe road was 5,000

Record for the season to the end of October
Played 8, won 5, drew 0, lost 3
Goals for 21, against 7, points 10

Promotion material, or midtable finish?

After only our 3rd season in the football league the Boro gained promotion finishing runners up to champions West Brom with Albion recording a double over the Boro

Remarkable achievement by manager John Robson with Boro scoring the highest number of goals & conceding the least

We scored seven goals in 2 games, six goals in two games & five goals in 4 games, some going

First of many seasons which we only lost one home game, unfortunately we've never gone a full season unbeaten at home
