Which came during our debut season at Ayresome Park when the mighty Boro recorded our biggest home win on our brand new sparkling stadium, thrashing Man City, who finished up as league runners up, 6-0

Up to this first division fixture the home fans had seen one home defeat, followed by 2 wins, scoring 7, conceding 4, the City score almost doubling our home goals column

Joe Cassidy with his 7th of the campaign, Alex Brown 3rd of the season, Bob Atherton scored a brace to open his Boro account & David Smith & Len Goodson scoring their first goals of the season

John Robsons team finished in 10th place.
We did reach the FAC 3rd round proper, after beating Millwall away 2-0, Preston away 3-0 we travelled to Man City & after a 0-0 draw brought them back to Ayresome Park for our first ever cup fixture on our new ground, unfortunately the game didn't go to plan as we suffered a 3-1 home defeat & Wembley was again a distant dream
