I'm in a mum group on WhatsApp with a few other mums around the UK with babies the same age as mine. Has been great for support and advice etc.

One of the mums was private messaging me the other day as she's going through a hard time, she was quite vague with the detail and it raised a few red flags for me.

She said her fella had been arrested for breaching his probation, apparently left his phone in the garden so when the probation officers came to check it was broken so he was arrested...

She told me he received a suspended sentence earlier this year, but it was something that was a "huge mistake because he has ADHD and was high on cocaine" and said she's ashamed to tell people about his "past" in case they judge her.

Anyway alarm bells were going off in my head so I did some digging. Found her on Facebook, found her fellas name, searched him and the name of the town they live in on google, turns out he's a registered sex offender, caught trying to message kids, with child sex material and shocking videos of animals on his phone.

Confronted her about it and she said no that's not him, just a bloke with the same name, sentenced on the same day, at the same court, who received the same sentence...

Swiftly booted her from the WhatsApp group!

Made me thankful I don't send pictures of my little one, but in the WhatsApp chat people send 100s of pics of their kids. Horrible to think this woman's noncey partner could be on her phone looking at them all.

Just a little update of what I've been up to recently, catching out nonce sympathisers 👍🏼

All nonces should get the rope.

Along with their defenders/apologists.

Agreed! She was surprised and confused that nobody wanted her in the group anymore cos "she doesn't let him on her phone" should fucking hope not! Disturbing that she had a child with him even though he's a nonce. Poor kid.

Grim.

I would say - just post pictures of your kids to people you know. And that doesn't mean Facebook! My sister has two lovely kids and posts pics all the time in our family's WhatsApp group. She's also active on Facebook, but from her Facebook posts you would never even know she had any children.

Keep your kids private.

Your sister sounds very wise!!! It's crazy people's need to share every single mortal thing from their day including their kids.

I don't even really send pics to family and friends barring my parents. I've got an app where I upload pics and nobody can screenshot them. I don't mind being an overbearing mum on this particular topic! Can never be too careful!

Social media has a lot to answer for can be nonce paradise if people are not careful

BoroRedKen

The fact she has a child means you did the right thing.

BoroRedKen

Do you her well enough to know if she is not being "controlled" by him? Cohersive and all that?

He's more than likely emotionally blackmailing her. Apparently tried to kill himself a few weeks ago, shame he failed. What a loser.

Was a shame we had to remove her support network, but unfortunately she's putting other people's kids at risk. People send innocent pictures of their kids in the bath, pictures of rashes etc to check they're nothing serious, stuff these women probably wouldn't want a nonce seeing.

I recommended her some professional avenues to go down for extra support as she must need it. Hopefully she takes the advice!

I wouldn't be doing that. You know what they say
"Once it's digital, it's pinchable".
Well actually no-one says that, but they should.

I agree. Even if there's no malicious people in the group you're in, all it takes is their device being compromised or stolen. Lots of naive people online these days, making it easy for the dodgy ones.

Some of the pictures I see posted on social media of people's kids shocks me, but could never call anyone out as everyone's far too defensive these days.

Even people saying "well my profile is private" people get hacked all the time.

RiversideRifle

I don't do social media and I tell my mrs to be rigid with hers. It's all locked down and no pictures of my kids.

My favourites are the people who put up a picture of the whole family on a plane, with something like "Off to Lanzarote - see you all in a fortnight." It's like an advert for burglars.

A well known woman from Middlesbrough who regularly posts inside her house and all her jewellery, bags and shoes etc. was just in Dubai on holiday, was posting about it and came home to find out they'd been burgled.

Completely baffles me, if you've got that much money surely you'd have a decent security system? But apparently only realised they'd been burgled once they got home.

I thought I'd see how easy it was to find her address by the pics she posts and found it within about 5 mins. So found the listing on rightmove, whole floorplan of house available. She does videos of her cleaning the house, in which you can see there's no internal cameras at all. People make it far too easy these days, maybe I'll become a burglar 😂
