Twenty years since his passing. Doesn't feel like it.
BC Memories on talkSPORT in the Jim White/Simon Jordan show, sometime between now and 1pm.
Should be a great listen.

He was a genius at man management, even players who didn't like him wanted to please him.Mark Crosby has some great stories and does a good impression of him.

Him & Alex Ferguson right up there as the best managers in my time, with Clough ahead of Ferguson due to the size of the clubs he managed & winning back to back European cups, mind Ferguson done very well at Aberdeen too

Should have managed England

RIP Brian Clough

This is up there with one of the best answers a manager has ever given to a journalist

And love his little smile at the end, class

Clough was great but it was his relationship with Peter Taylor which really brought the best out of him.

Neither pulled up trees after they fell out.

Clem Fandango

What he did with Derby and Forest was exceptional and will never be repeated (unless millions and millions are spent).  It's true that credit should go to Peter Taylor as well.  Between them their ability to pick the right player for a position - convert many from other positions - reinvigorate careers - use the right tactics in big games - was truly exceptional.  His goal scoring record was superb too.  It was very sad seeing his eventual decline.

I used to love watching him interviewed as a kid.  Clough vs Revie etc, on Parky.

I was at leadership work meeting in Dallas once where they had an "ice-breaker" exercise and went round the table asking people to answer "who would you like to have dinner with past and present (outside of family etc)?".  The usual virtual signaling shite was spouted about Jesus, Obama, MLK, Gandhi ( :rudi:  :rav: ) etc.  I said Clough (none of them had heard of him) and, in true Clough style, made them listen to my reasons for 5 minutes.  Fuck 'em.   :winston:

I love these quotes:

When talking of his childhood he said he "adored it in all its aspects. If anyone should be grateful for their upbringing, for their mam and dad, I'm that person. I was the kid who came from a little part of paradise."

On his upbringing in Middlesbrough, Clough claimed that it was "not the most well-appointed place in the world, but to me it was heaven". "Everything I have done, everything I've achieved, everything that I can think of that has directed and affected my life – apart from the drink – stemmed from my childhood. Maybe it was the constant sight of Mam, with eight children to look after, working from morning until night, working harder than you or I have ever worked."

and...

"We talk about it for 20 minutes and then we decide I was right".  :rudi:

RIP
