He denied it.

Said to me "I HAVE TO TELL PEOPLE IM A LABOUR COUNCILLOR. DO YOU THINK I WOULD ADMIT BEING RELATED TO.........."

Well up to the bit about asking him if you were related. I may have embellished a bit at the end!

He was not overly keen with a few of my questions.

I'm not surprised he denied being related to me.. seen as we're not related.
