Smoking costs the NHS 2.6 bilion a year.

Think i shall pack in and take up imbibing alcohol.

Just had a quick Google and the government rake in around £8.8 billion from fag tax, so smokers are more than paying their part of the NHS bill

Just had a quick Google and the government rake in around £8.8 billion from fag tax, so smokers are more than paying their part of the NHS bill

I had a google as well and they estimate the  total societal cost at £17.5 billion .( missed work days and long term sickness). In the interests of balance the exchequer gets £12.5 billion from alcohol tax but the societal cost is £21.5 billion.Smoking is natures way is saying you're stupid.
