Increase from today for taking your kid out of school "unathourised". 80 QUID IF PAID IN 21 DAYS OR 160 QUID IF PAID WITHIN 28 DAYS!

WTF?

I thought most parents had to work etc now?

Yet they closed schools TWICE during the pandemic. Nearly 2 years kids missed an education for.

And before you chomp Blotts i know it was the Tories but SKS wanted harder and stricter lockdowns remember?

Brushing their teeth, feeding them and now taking the loco parentis mantra to a whole new level!

# HEY TEACHER! LEAVE OUR KIDS ALONE #.....

It's called a tax and a stupid one at that because kids learn more from holidays than Been at school but middle class wankers don't want working class to have cheap holidays
TEESSIDER and Proud  of the area unlike some and I'm not a Racist

Over here they can fine you €50/ per day unless the parents can prove they can't go away during school holidays. For 4 years in a row, I managed to get a letter/email from my manager saying December was my busiest month because I had deadlines to meet.

I kept my eldest daughter off school the first 2 weeks of January to go on a long-haul holiday,
It all stopped when a couple of gobshite jealous mothers complained to the school director

I just cannot get my head around the fines currently. Some peoples jobs are hanging by a thread.
Labour talking about a 4 day week and more workers rights but do not dare put your job ahead of your child not attending school for 2 weeks in the sun at a time more suited by their parents work schedule.

Also why not knack the airlines and holiday companies for putting up the prices during non term time therefore  pricing out a lot of families taking holidays at them times?

Or is that just too simple a solution?......

It's a difficult one isn't it. Without any restrictions at all, people could take the piss, having their kids off at critical times, exam periods, etc. as a working adult we do have to request leave, manage our workload so that time off doesn't impact our work etc. but giving parents no leeway at all is ridiculous.

I agree with what you're saying Ken, airlines and holiday companies should be held accountable for hiking the prices up outside of term time.

Now I'm a parent I've realised that once my baby is grown up and in school, if we want to do fun stuff we will have to do it on weekends and in school holidays, up to now I normally avoid anywhere when the kids are off because I know it'll be horribly busy, and not too keen on other people's kids 😂

We will probably end up being a camping family.

Too Much Perspective

School office staff really don't want the hassle of dealing with penalty notices etc if they don't have to, so you've just got to take that into account and think smart.
Firstly don't take the piss (e.g. 2 weeks in Majorca just before the STATs). Phone in with a Covid or 'bad tummy bug' excuse if it's a week or less, and you'll probably be fine.
Controlling prices is an absolute non-starter. It's like complaining that selection boxes and Christmas cards are more expensive on Dec 1 than on Boxing Day.

Totally agree, lets get rid of this pathetic supply & demand farce, if there's a limited number of vacancies sell them at the prices quoted & when theyve gone, theyve gone

As you say Ken, far to easy to sort out the real issue

Too easy to give each household 5 days per year for holiday relief.

You want to get rid of demand-based pricing in the hospitality industry? Good luck with that.

I know it will never happen but why do families have to pay inflated prices because there are only a few places available, surely if its say £300 in Octobers pricing then why should the pricing increase because, say, only two are availabe, first come, first served basis

Does this happen in any other industry?

People are allowed to want things, even if they're not likely to happen. I don't think erimus was planning on starting a campaign for cheaper holidays out of term time lol.

I had to pay a 'fine' years ago because my lad missed the first day of school after the holidays...Pisses me off when my kids education is important, except when they go of fkin strike!

ZiEgE

How the fuck can a school, a state one at that, enforce a fine?

Just tell em to go fuck themselves.

What they going to do? Kick your kid out? Fair enough, send em to a different school.

When I got the fine I called the team who sent it out, it turned out I was talking to a child protection social worker, who as she told me, wasn't too happy having to enforce these.

I explained to her my reason for taking him out of school for one day and she agreed with me, however she said unless the school cancel it, then I would need to pay it....

Blott

It's simple don't take your kids on holiday outside of the 13 weeks school holidays.

They don't have to go to Spain, take them camping.

Or take them to spain outside of school holidays and pay the fine, probably still works out cheaper than paying the overinflated school holiday prices 👍🏻👍🏻
