Our 1st top flight 'Saturday' home fixture for over 20 years, since the 17th April 1954 v Liverpool
In the space of 3 days at Ayresome Park we've played both sides that were promoted with us. Carlisle United winning on the Tuesday night 2-0, to go top of the league & ton this day, Luton Town
In the 14th minute, David Mills opened his account for the season  putting the mighty Boro one nil up, our 1st top flight home goal since Kenny McPherson, further chances went begging but even though we missed a boat load of chances & with time running out it seemed both points would be staying on Teesside & with it, our 1st top flight home win since 3rd April 1954 when we beat Aston Villa 2-1
As the clocked ticked on the 90th minute, Luton, wearing their quality away strip, scored when Barry Butlin, who bagged a goal at Ayresome Park in our second championship season, scored a last minute equaliser at the holgate end & thats how it finished, 1-1

2 home games, one defeat & a draw, ''Charlton Out''
