Just 12 months previous Boro were relegated & worse was to follow going into voluntary liquidation put all that aside when following a remarkable season when we finished runners up to Bournemouth,
a remarkable & unbelievable 12 months, with another remarkable season to come when we kicked off 1987/88 season

Going behind in this opening fixture of the season one of the 86 legends Archie Stephens rescued a deserving point with a diving header at the holgate end, scoring our equaliser in the 82nd minute on our return to the second division
