This story is about a lad I work with. Jack lost his son and sister in one crash. The driver had been drinking and got behind the wheel. Tomorrow he buries his 8 month old son. It's fucked up and completely avoidable. I have lost family members and friends colleagues to drink driving. Just don't fucking do it

1 of the reasons i very rarely drink. I can get 3hrs car insurance for 8 quid on most cars.
So i would rather take that out and drive the lads home if the DD had a beer or 3.

So simple and can save lives.

The wanker got 17 years in prison. The cunt should dangle

Read this this morning whilst in hospital, he even took a photo of his speedometer moments before impact

Why do innocent people have to suffer, why couldnt have just ploughed in to the back of a parked up juggernaut, why, why, why!

RIP & god bless, to each & everyone on these threads & away who have suffered due to selfish people who think theyre more important

How its never murder boggles my mind.

In my opinion if you are pissed and get in your car and drive it should be no different to walking around with a weapon.

PELTERS!

But when "questions" are asked about alcohol consumption and the negative effects it cause too many people go straight on the defensive.

Drugs and smoking (even vaping lately!)? BAD! COST LIVES AND MONEY!!.

Alcohol? BAH HUMBUG! MISERABLE FEKKER! MY RIGHT AFTER A HARDS DAY GRAFT!.........

Ural Quntz

Tried to blame a fictitious hitchhiker!

Double the sentence!

Audi drivers.......

The driving limit should be zero, none if this I only had two bollocks, and I speak as someone who drove over the limit when I was younger.
I once passed a breathalyser  after drinking five pints..spoiler alert, I wasn't driving I was the passenger, I asked the policeman if I could "have a go". The driver was sober.

Not murder Ken, criminal charges are complex shit,
The cps would need to prove the offender actually wanted to kill the victim.

We have a problem in this country with drink.. ANOTHER thing we could look to adopt from the Scandinavian countries.

Areas with low instances of sunlight have higher instances of alcoholism and suicide.

We could change daylight saving to favour the normal average working day.. rather than farmers who receive shit loads of subsidies anyway.

Drop in suicide rates, drop in alcoholism.. drop in the number of fatal accidents on the roads.

The Scandinavian countries that have similar levels of sunlight to ourselves also restrict access to spirits.  only sold to over 21s and outside of pubs only sold in special off licences.

The horse has bolted somewhat with alcohol as we are now seeing coke everywhere.. but again legalising drugs in a controlled way would bring more benefits.

Portugal has seen a huge decrease in heroin addiction using 'the English model' - pretty progressive.

Why waste money on policing 'the war on drugs' - working men's clubs are dying out.. give them cannabis licences! Collect the tax rather than pay for policing and make softer drugs more attractive.

Folks might think this sounds like a lefty idea.. but surely saving money wasted on hippies and making more money from hippies.. conservative right?

Save money in the NHS by not having to 'treat' smack heads in a&e.. heroin is cheaper than methadone.. just give em it! Cheaper than policing robberies, muggings etc

Plus.. they won't live as long. Harsh but true.

It sounds like a stupid idea (which usually makes it lefty also) but if alcohol was linked to sunlight none of us would go to Spain to get leathered

We crave sunlight.. and alcohol.

Makes perfect sense.
