Boro’s DNA - International

It has been a bit of a buzzword for the past few years.. from the changes in grassroots football up to 'the golden thread' academy playing style that runs all the way through to the first team.

It got me thinking about the quintessential Boro player.. or even players.. ones who define their position for Boro.

Bryan Robson initiated a huge change bringing in the Brazilian magic of Juninho and Emerson but did they define those positions or where they following the paths laid out by Wilf Mannion and Graham Souness?

In our best sides.. do we always have a version of 'that player'

I wondered if that Brazilian and Italian influence from the 90s would be seen carried on through to the present date.. if that would be part of the make up of continuing squads for generations to come..

We seem to get more bang for our buck from Australian players than we do Scottish players, Dutch players seem more effective for us than Italian players.. just making sweeping generalisations here based on a combination appearances and goals scored. Spanish players seem quite close in effectiveness to our Brazilian players.. Scottish players have historically been dependable for us.. but no where near as effective as our Irish contingent.

Danish over Jamaican.. overall Congolese and Colombians showing great returns upfront!

Swiss goalkeepers.. Australian goalkeepers!

This squad seems to be built using the boro way.. more Australian & Dutch than Brazilian and Italian.. I think we're still missing a Congolese or a Columbian upfront tho.

No Mexicans as yet tho.. but the American influence seems to be one that is growing.
