Big John made his debut on his 22nd birthday in a home 3rd division fixture against Workington Town

We were trailing 2-0 when we were awarded a penalty & with big John, wearing the No5 shirt, deputising for the clubs penalty taker Dicky Rooks & nooone prepared to take the responsibility he stepped forward, grabbed the match ball, placed on the spot, took his usual step up then placed the ball past the keeper, a turning point in the game as we went on to win 3-2, our first home win of the season & our 2nd win of the season
