I was a welder until I had an accident on my back in the late 90's.

I don't know Oathead but I worked at Caterpillar with Neil before I had my accident.  We both worked on the same section together on the nightshift.  I used to see him at the odd game but haven't seen or heard from him in years.

My late brother was a welder. He passed away in Saudi a couple of years back now. He was old Smiths Dock i think?.
He lived in Eston.

When i was a kid round there everybody was either a welder or worked on the rigs!.

I served my apprenticeship at Smith's Dock.

Regarding everyone in the TS6 area being welders, etc. when I lived at home I got a call for a job that my mum took due to me being out.  She asked the agent where it was at, the rate of pay and what type of welding it was.  The guy replied that she wouldn't understand to which my mum said, "My father in law is a welder, my husband is a welder, two of my brother in laws are welders and both my sons are welders, I dare say sonny, I know more about welding than you".

My brother was called Keith.

He had Hodgkins Lymphona (?) years back, skinny fella. You probably would of recognised him. He was around your age Norman.
His wife, Mary, was a cleaner in the Woodys for years.
