Guess what? The 1.6 billion needed for Labours NHS "changes" is coming from "tax cheats and, yup you guessed it, non dom savings".

I heard Big Bad Wes state the other day "the Tories are spending the same money 5 times over".

How many times are Labour spending "non dom" money?

National Service is gonna be paid for by closing tax loopholes..

BoroRedKen

National service?

Have you forgot about the other option of work within the community?

Why are people continuing to yak on about like its conscription?

Only 30k could possibly volunteer. That is the keyword here. Voluntary.

I have spent over 20yrs in a variety of voluntary work. The need is out there. From Mental health charities to getting housebound Doris's medication and a loaf of bread.

Yes you do get a sense of "wellbeing" helping others but the little touches like sitting with Doris for half an hour 1 weekend a month mean the world to the Doris's.

At 18 i would of loved the chance to volunteer for something like the Fire Service or Mountain rescue.

I take my hat off to you Ken

I was part of the Boris call out during covid asking for volunteers to help in anyway they could, I wanted to talk & help venerable people so I chose to talk to Doris etc on the phone, which I did a number of times, Doris, Alf, etc, etc, enjoyed it too

Though as a racist scumbag I think I did ok

BoroRedKen

Having experinced loneliness myself recently Erimus them calls would have been a massive boost so thank you.

Having a partner around is something i took for granted. Someone to laugh and cry with that you love is massively underrated. I still go out shopping and find myself thinking "ohh Carmen would to try that" and then chastise myself because she is not here anymore.
You then come home to silence til the next time you get to physically speak to another human.

The scheme seems good for community spirit and cohesion. Maybe its just us knuckle dragging racists that are capable of thinking of the Doris's and the Alf's of this country.
👍

Happy that you would have liked to have done stuff when you were 18.. but that doesn't mean the you should be choosing what 18yo kids are doing.

If it is voluntary.. then it's pointless brining it up 18yo's can volunteer to do stuff now!

Mandatory national service for all.. because the tories have cut the army to its bare bones. So we'll have 30k unpaid sandbaggers and a quarter of them will end up staying on.

It's not about national pride or doing what's best for the country it's about squeezing every single resource, selling every single asset to benefit the very few.

Ural Quntz

Notice how newy just chose to ignore every alternative viewpoint you and erimus made so that he could revert back to his tired party trope?

Aye. If it was conscription then i might have an issue with it but as its proposed i dont have 1.

Its now even being presented with "Ohh we must be going war soon". Conflated(afmw!!) With the problems in the Middle East.

I can see 30k young uns being interested. They want to show and teach them loads alongside some discipline. Who better than the current crop of tech savvy young uns to deal with stuff like cyber security?

Lets be honest. Not every 18yr old is working or at college. I see the same group of out of work prowling about all day trying door and car handles picking up fag buts. But no we must blame no youth centres or "activities" for them. These fuckers would only rob the lead off the roof of the youth centre

There the 1s that is should not be voluntary for i would go so far as to argue for it.

I'm not flying the flag for Labour here btw. But I can't remember any tories screaming and shouting over selling the gold at the time. A drop in the ocean compared to the Covid contracts and liz truss's disastrous mini budget!

And there we have it! Left wing whataboutery at it's finest. Well done that man   :morgan:
It's What's In The Groove That Counts

Ural Quntz

May I just debunk your last statement about the gold sell off?

Brown sold 395 tonnes (almost half) of our gold reserves and he got $3.5 billion back (which he will have wasted with Labour spending on the usual socialist shite)

Gold is now worth $75.259 a kilo or 75,259,000 a tonne

It would be worth $29.7 billion now

So $26.2 billion worse off

Did Covid cost that?

Liz Truss caused a blip in the stock market that's all

So you can't compare anything with anything else.. because that's whataboutery? Ok

Wes Streeting, National Service, Gordon Brown's sale of gold between 1999 and 2002.. over 20 years ago.

to buy the gold back today after 22/25 years would cost $25 billion pounds more than we sold it for.

But the sale allowed the Government to pay off a substantial part of the national debt and keep repayment interest rates down on the remainder. Gold was underperforming and it was a sound financial move at the time.

How much would the excess interest on the national debt have cost us over 25 years? Compared to just having gold sitting in a vault.

Clem Fandango

Liz Truss though.

Johnny Thunder

I'd fuckin smash her pasty right in.
