Thailand - two centre beach and city and of course Bangkok is the city. Few days did enough for me unless you are into sleaze and knock off gear. Worth a day trip to river kwai bridge kanchanaburi which isn't made of bamboo!  Beach Hua Hin or Pattaya (Lids is the expert here) if money no object a beachside cottage at Royal Cliff, or further south to the islands but I've not been down that far

Caribbean - Barbados for me and the missus. Off for our 5th visit in a couple of weeks. People are friendly, top beachs on the West coast south of Bridgetown, North of Bridgetowns the posh end.

Either of those will be hotter than here

Best time for Thailand is now possibly up to the end of March - gets VERY hot then! It is unusually hot here now, the locals say. For me, I would avoid the Lids places! Pattaya and Phuket is famous for their dancing bars and prostitution! I would look at Au Nang and Hua Hin - authentic Thai places and suitable for families.

Being going regularly for 25 years. My advice (depending on budget):

3 nights in Bangkok (some great restaurants, bars, things to do temples and river ride)

Best Islands are Koh Samui and Phuket. KS is now expensive to fly there since Bangkok Airways acquired the airport meaning flights there are >£250 each - fucking rip off cunts. Phuket flight options are better and cheaper but the problem with the place for me is weather. Some days it just rains and rains.

I would sack off the idea of a beach and go to Chang Mai. Culturally much better than Bangkok, more genuine people. Some great food, bars and not many wannabe Leonardo DiCaprio's thinking they're the first to discover the country.

If you need a specific itinerary would be happy to help.
