Sheff Weds were our visitors to our brand new sparkling Ayresome Park, for a 1st division season, we had played our 1st xmas at our new ground & now our 1st new year

A day earlier, on the 1st we drew 1-1 at Man City & within 24 hours we faced Sheff Wed, who beat us at their place on the opening day of the season inflicted our 3rd home defeat & with it, Wednesday were the 1st team to do the double over us that season

Boro finished the season in 10th place, their highest position as a league club, 3 places higher, though two points less than our top flight debut season, good achievement considering we failed to win an away game, though we did collect the same away points as the previous season
